Job Title: Day Treatment Counselor
Work Location: Lockport, IL
Work Hours: 8:30-5:00pm; M-F
Job Description: A Day Treatment Counselor is part of a team of mental health professionals working with adults with severe and chronic mental illness along with a co-morbid developmental/ intellectual disabilities. The primary responsibilities include: facilitating group sessions and individual counseling, as well as community support and implementation. Group therapy topics may include: goal setting, DBT skills and other creative forms of expression. The center utilizes evidence-based practices, such as, DBT, ACT and FAP to create a therapeutic and holistic learning environment. Additional responsibilities include:
- ensuring the individuals’ treatment plans are being followed
- engaging individuals in physical activity
- encouraging individuals to engage in positive interactions
- assuring documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- participating in team meetings and trainings
- supporting the program team in the day-to-day tasks
Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters in the field of counseling psychology, social work, or other human service-related fields. Must be able to complete as pass a drug screen and physical examination which include: balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, pushing wheelchairs and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Salary: $42,000 base salary for Bachelor’s degree ; $45,000 with a Masters Degree.
