Day Treatment Counselor (Joliet, IL)
Job Title: Day Treatment Counselor
Work Location: Joliet, IL
Work Hours: 8:30-5:00pm; M-F
Job Description: A Day Treatment Counselor is part of a team of mental health professionals. The primary responsibilities involve designing and implementing group and individual counseling, as well as community support and implementation, to adults with severe and chronic mental illnesses. Group therapy topics may include interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, anger management, men’s and women’s issues, nutrition, or well-being. The center utilizes evidence-based practices to create a therapeutic learning environment. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the individuals’ treatment plans are being followed, engaging individuals in physical activity, encouraging individuals to engage in positive interactions, assuring documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner, participating in team meetings and trainings and supporting the program coordinator in the day-to-day activities.
Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters in the field of counseling psychology, social work, or other human service related fields. Must be able to complete the following physical abilities such as balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, pushing wheelchairs and lifting up to 40 pounds. Must also pass drug screen and be eligible for PACE (driving) certification.
Salary: $33,000 base salary for Master’s degree. Plus potential for quarterly bonuses.
