Employment Services Director (Joliet, IL)

Program or Service: Network 6; Supported Employment Program (SEP)

Description: Under the supervision of the Net 6 Network Director, the Employment Services Director supervises job development activities of Employment Specialists, manages on-the-job supports for individuals with disabilities, and coordinates community outreach about the agency specifically related to employment.  This independent associate-level staff member helps to facilitate positive employment outcomes and maintains positive relationships with high school transition personnel, community members, businesses, and the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS). The supports and services provided will be done in a dignified, respectful and professional manner.  The Director is expected to travel and work in multiple counties to provide education and support for employment services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Promote a work environment that respects those we serve and always treats them with dignity and respect.
  2. Perform intake with prospective clients and their guardians / families, explaining services, and gathering required information.
  3. Prepare referrals for DRS services.
  4. Complete an assessment with each new client identifying skills, abilities, interests, education, work experience and other information necessary for a positive placement outcome.
  5. Work with employers identifying job tasks that may need to be modified to fit client’s abilities.
  6. Participate in consistent meetings with DRS counselors and DRS supervisor to ensure open communication and consistent generating of referrals.
  7. Work closely with counselors at DRS to maintain positive and productive relationships.
  8. Routinely check and evaluate client files for documentation of provided services (assessment, shadowing, job development, coaching, retention and staffing, as appropriate).
  9. Ensure job coach progress notes are completed for each period billed.
  10. Perform public presentations to promote employment services at various events including school IEPs, conferences, workshops, service fairs and others.
  11. Provide supervision to SEP Coordinator, Employment Specialists, and Job Coaches.
  12. Recruit and interview Supported Employment staff.
  13. Network with local businesses and community members and develop of outreach opportunities for Supported Employment staff.
  14. Attend conferences and continued education related to employment services in Illinois.
  15. Preserve positive relationships with families and guiding them through the school to work transition.
  16. Participation in meetings with local DRS offices, school administrative personnel, and other agencies.
  17. Coordination of accreditation, annual fidelity reviews, and DHS audits for department.
  18. Complete subminimum wage studies and wage certificate application for Department of Labor.
  19. Guide supervision of Rehabilitation Counseling student interns from CACREP and CORE accredited programs (as applicable).
  20. Produce various financial reports and champion the efforts related to the program meeting the necessary financial milestones.
  21. Network in person via state professional organizations and committees representing Trinity Services amongst community providers.
  22.  The position’s hours are typically during the day however, availability to attend evening and weekend events is required.

Skills and Abilities: 

  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, coworkers, and their supervisor.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  3. Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry.
  4. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field.
  2. Professional License strongly preferred (LCPC; LCSW).
  3. Rehabilitation related experience and/or education required.
  4. Understanding of evidence based employment practices.  
  5. Experience with public speaking and proficiency with developing formal presentations.
  6. Computer skills including Word, Excel, Email and Internet.
  7. A valid driver’s license is required. Mileage reimbursement offered.
  8. Maintain a current CPR and First Aid card (training provided through Trinity Services).
  9. The physical activities for this position involve:  balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
