Day Treatment Counselor (Lockport, IL)



Job Title: Day Treatment Counselor  

Work Location:  Lockport, IL 

Work Hours:  8:30-5:00pm; M-F 

Job Description:  A  Day Treatment Counselor is part of a team of mental health professionals working with adults with a dual diagnosis of intellectual or developmental disability as well as a mental illness.  The primary responsibilities include: facilitating group sessions and individual counseling, along with community support and implementation. Group therapy topics may include: goal setting, coping skills, interpersonal skill-building, and other creative forms of expression. The center utilizes evidence-based practices, such as DBT, ACT and FAP to create a therapeutic and holistic learning environment. Additional responsibilities include: 

  •  ensuring the individuals’ treatment plans are being followed 
  •  engaging individuals in physical activity 
  •  encouraging individuals to engage in positive interactions 
  •  assuring documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner 
  •  participating in team meetings and trainings  
  •  supporting the program team in the day-to-day tasks  

Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters in the field of counseling psychology, social work, or other human service-related fields. Must be able to complete a physical examination which includes: balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, pushing wheelchairs and lifting up to 40 pounds.  

Salary:  Salary is based on qualifications: Bachelor’s degree $31,000; Master's degree $33,000; LSW/LPC $35,000; LCSW/LCPC $37,000. Additional quarterly bonuses are available at all levels!
