Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator (Joliet, IL)


Location: Joliet, IL

Program or Service: Trinity Social Center

Schedule/Shift: M-F with some evenings and weekend responsibilities 

Description: Trinity Services has an exciting position coordinating fun outdoor and indoor events such as Frisbee golf, camping trips, music events, fitness activities and other social events for adults with intellectual disabilities or mental illness.  Perfect for a high energy, organized new grad with ability to coordinate and schedule events across multiple venues.  Innovative new social club within this well-established agency needs your talent to thrive. 

Responsibilities: The therapeutic recreation coordinator will plan and implement programs such as exercise games, Disc golf, Bike Club, and basketball. They will also organize Special Olympic practices and tournaments, host daytime and evening events such as karaoke, movie nights, dances, and holiday parties, as well as arrange social or volunteer-based community outings. This position offers flexibility for creative thinkers to design new programs, utilize facilities such as a campground in Michigan and a therapeutic horseback riding facility, and furthermore expand the Social Center recreation department.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or other similar field and be able to facilitate weekend and evening events.
