Trinity Receives 2022 CQL Award of Excellence!

CQL 1
On Thursday, October 13, the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) selected Trinity Services for their 2022 Award of Excellence. The CQL Awards of Excellence recognize individuals, organizations, and/or systems that exemplify the very best in human services for people with disabilities.

CQL presented the award during an in-person luncheon held at the 2022 CQL Conference at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas.

CQL received two nominations for Trinity Services: one for their partnership with law enforcement (Mobile Crisis Response Units); and another for their Kindness Day program created to build strong work relationships.

The winning program focused on the ongoing collaboration between Trinity Services and local police departments to provide community mental health supports, provide training for clinicians and LEOs, and establish Mobile Crisis Response Units (MCRU) to respond to emergencies. The program helped to change the way public safety personnel approach the needs of those experiencing a mental health crisis.

“Beginning in October 2021, this program expanded to include all neighboring police departments,” explained Bonnie Hassan, Director of Outpatient Services for Trinity. “Since that time, police departments have identified over 525 mental health related calls that resulted either in contact with a MCRU clinician for consultation or a referral for follow up services.”

The positive impact of the MCRU has already been demonstrated by less hospitalizations and fewer repeat calls, freeing up officers to respond to other important issues.

“We are very grateful and honored to receive this award and excited to continue to expand our work with our partners in law enforcement,” said Thane A. Dykstra, Ph.D., President and CEO of Trinity Services. “This program certainly helps connect people to needed mental health services and resources with the hope of decreasing the frequency of mental health crisis events that result in calls to law enforcement.”
