School Update 1-12-21

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you may know by now, a lot of events related to Covid-19 has been happening, most especially related to the distribution of the vaccine. This is not a requirement for our staff and employees, although it is highly recommended by the CDC and foremost experts on the matter. Currently, the state of Illinois is still at Tier 3 mitigations with cases steadily rising during the past week. Although we had high hopes that we will be reopening for in-person learning next week, we will have to delay it for at least another week. Current data shows that Will County is at 12.3% and Cook County is at 9.9% Covid positivity rate. This shows that both these counties are at a warning level and is at a moderate risk of transmission in schools. It is indicated in our plan that the cases be at the 8% threshold before it is considered safe to reopen for in-person learning or if Tier 3 mitigations have been lifted.

We do not take this decision lightly and know the difficulty of remote learning for our students and their families. We will be taking this on a week-by-week basis and will let you know of any changes as soon as we can. You can also check out our website or Facebook page for other announcements.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter. The safety of all students and staff is first and foremost our concern.
